adsense targeting

As an AdSense publisher, I am often annoyed to find my web pages filled with public service announcements (PSA) and ads unrelated the content of my site. Fewer relevant ads means fewer click-throughs and ultimately lower adsense revenues. However advanced contextual advertising Google's algorithm used May be, it is still a computer program (as opposed to a human being) to try to understand on what web page it is.

Here are some tips to help you optimize your pages to make them more Adsense friendly. Note that these tips deal with ad delivery rather than formatting of ads or placement. While the formatting and posting of ads in May affect ad click through rates, they have nothing to do with the delivery of relevant ads on your site. Your site must display relevant ads before having any chance of being clicked.

1. Avoid too much content on one page

If Adsense does not understand what your page is about, it can deliver targeted ads to its content. Although Humans can easily tell which web page is about taking a look at it, the computer algorithms are so intelligent. If your page contains too much content, the likelihood is that it also contains too many keywords that seem unrelated. Adsense becomes confused and displays PSAs or ads unrelated to the topic of your page. Try to divide the page into smaller, each focusing on a few related keywords.

2. Avoid too little content on a page

If your page contains many graphics and very little text, Adsense may have difficulty determining what it is. This is particularly true when most of your content is derived graphics and scripts. Where possible, use text rather than graphics to display the site names, page titles and texts foreground. Be sure to include your keywords in the title of your page and repeat them in whole page. Avoid hide your text using underhanded tactics like the use of tiny fonts or making your text the same color and substance. This may be interpreted by search engines as spam.

3. Repeat the keywords you're targeting

Keyword repetition is easier for Adsense to decipher what is on your page. Do it in moderation as spam excessive repetition may be considered by search engines. The excessive repetition may also make your writing sound awkward for the human reader. Instead of repeating the same word Altogether over keyword 5 or 6 times on one page, use synonyms and related fields. For example, instead of repeating "optimizing Adsense" 20 times, you can try other phrases like "adsense revenue increase" and "Adsense earn more".

4. Avoid acronyms

I once wrote an article on pay-per-click advertising for one of my sites, and after downloading the article, I embarrassed to find ads for Apple computers on the article page. In fact, no announcement had nothing to do with pay-per-click advertising. Looking closely, it occurred to me that I used the acronym PPC instead of pay-per-click several times in the article. As he found that "PPC" also means "PowerPC", line Apple Power Macintosh computers, which explains why I received all announcements related to Apple. When I replaced all the "PPC" to "pay-per-click" and "pay per click", the problem has disappeared.

5. Choose keywords that the commercial value

You may obtain public service announcements rather than ads paid if your page is about a Keywords on which no one offers. A remedy to this is to incorporate keywords whose marketability in your manuscript. For example, if your page is an obscure medical condition, you might try sprinkling a bit of drug names in your document make display ads rather than paid PSAs.
